- Candidates must hold a master’s degree from an Indian institution with a grade of 55 percent (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is used) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject, or an equivalent degree from an approved overseas university.
- Candidates who have passed the UGC or CSIR’s NET or a similar UGC-accredited test, such as SLET/SET, or who are or have been awarded a Ph.D. in accordance with the UGC’s (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016, and their amendments from time to time as the case may be, are exempted from NET/SLET/SET.
