Odisha Govt Bans Contract Recruitment & Regularises 57,000 Contract Employees!!! Naveen Patnaik, the chief minister, made the announcement on the occasion of his 76th birthday. “Today, I’m happy to report that the state cabinet has voted to permanently abolish the contractual system of hiring. Many states continue use the contractual recruitment system even if there are no formal hiring practises in place. But in Odisha, the time of contractual hiring has over, according to Naveen, who will turn 76 on Sunday.
With the provision of wheelchairs and volunteers to assist the needy, all 252 voting booths for the Dhamnagar assembly byelection on November 3 would be handicap-friendly, according to chief electoral officer S K Lohani.
In a speech at an all-party meeting on election readiness, Lohani said that more than 12,000 voters who could require special assistance, including 7,206 seniors and 4,956 people with disabilities, had been called to see whether they required postal votes. 505 voters who choose the option “had arrangements for postal ballots prepared,” he said.
Each of the 252 booths will have one wheelchair, and there will be 504 volunteers, two per booth, to assist the disabled in getting to the voting area, according to him. 98 vehicles will be on duty to transport elderly and disabled voters to the polling places, according to Lohani.
Lekhashri Smantasinghar, state BJP general secretary, urged the administration to create a public list of the personnel who will be assigned to assist the old and crippled during voting. She claimed that anganwadi and Mission Shakti employees should be excluded from such a process because the BJD would utilise them to guarantee support for its candidate.
Platoons from the CRPF and BSF will be deployed to ensure a smooth polling process. In the byelection, 2.38 lakh voters—1.23 lakh men, 1.15 lakh women, and 33 transgender people—will cast ballots.
