It is reported that 0.45% of almost 1000 workers will be laid off. The layoffs are reported to be across a variety of sectors, including gaming and operating systems such as Xbox, Windows, and Edge. Commenting on the layoffs, a Microsoft spokesperson said, “We evaluate our business priorities regularly and make structural changes accordingly. We will continue to invest in our business.”

He said that there will be hiring in key growth areas in the coming year. Microsoft is now scheduled to release its quarterly earnings on October 25. After this, the company is expected to take a final call on layoffs. Meanwhile, companies like Microsoft, Apple, Oracle, and Google have announced hiring freezes in the coming months.
