 “PM Kisan Samman Sammelan 2022” – PMKSS

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the PM Kisan Samman Sammelan 2022 at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute in New Delhi on October 17.
  • It is reported that more than 13,500 farmers and around 1500 agriculture start-ups from across the country have been brought together through this programme.

‘International Rural Women Day’ -2022

  • The National Gender Resource Centre in Agriculture (NGRCA), Directorate of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmer’s Welfare in collaboration of National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), an autonomous organization under Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare (MoA&FW) has celebrated  ‘Mahila Kisan Diwas’ or ‘International Rural Women Day’ on 15th October, 2022.
  • As the year 2023 has been declared as the ‘International Year of Millets by United Nations (UN), the theme of this year Mahila Kisan Diwas is ‘Millets: Empowering Women and Providing Nutritional Security’.
  • Shri Tomar released a book on depicting “Evidences based Gender Inequality in Agriculture and Food Systems in India” which will be helpful for the policy makers, academicians and researchers to focus on areas where the gender analysis is needed

Global Hunger Index Release 2022

  • A company called Concern Worldwide from Ireland and a company called Welt Hunger Hilfe from Germany have published the World Hunger Index every year after analyzing food shortages and malnutrition at the international level.
  • It is calculated based on these 4 factors are Malnutrition, 2. Child stunting 3. Child Wasting and 4. Child mortality.
  • India is ranked 107thin the list of 121 countries

International Math League 2022

  • Global math platform, is organising the prestigious International Math League 2022 for primary school students (KG-6 grade) in India-Matific Math League 2022–between November 23 and December 6.
  • Millions of students from over 20 countries participate in the Matific Math League every year.

State news

Mahakaleshwar Temple Project: Center approves Rs 209 crore ropeway project for devotees

  • State Housing and Urban Development Minister Bhupendra Singh said the proposed ropeway would benefit pilgrims and boost tourism in the region.
  • Three days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first phase of the Mahakaleshwar Temple corridor development project in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, the central government has approved the Rs 209 crore two-km ropeway project.

Introduction of laparoscopy specialty courses

  • Advanced Specialty Fellowship Course on Laparoscopic Surgery in a three-day clinical workshop on Hernia titled ‘PALS – 2022’ held at MGM Healthcare Hospital, Chennai, organized by the Society of Laparoscopic Surgeons of India and MGM, Healthcare Hospitals have jointly introduced
  • 75 lakh people in India are suffering from hernia related diseases and training was conducted to learn various new techniques and share experiences in surgical procedures for them.

Uttarakhand govt approves 13-km long ropeway project

  • Distance between the Kedarnath Dham and Sonprayag takes around 8 to 12 hours to cover that journey either on foot or pony by several hours
  • In order to reduce that Uttarakhand government has approved a ropeway project in Kedarnath Dham.
  • With the construction of the ropeway, traveling time between Sonprayag and Kedarnath would be reduced.

16th  century copper plate was found

  • A copper plate of 16th century (1597) has been found in Palani.
  • This copper plate was issued by the Bandaras of the Sali Moolamarkandeya clan, in the 11th regional year of the Vijayanagara king Venkatanayaka II.

Discovery of Chola Inscription

  • Archaeologists and teachers found a new inscription and a fragment of an already transcribed inscription along  8 km of tthe Trichy-Kulitalai highway,at  Allur Pasupadeeswarar temple .
  • Also this inscription was built during the reign of Parantaka Chola (924 CE),
  • This inscription engraved on the south side of the gate on the mandapa wall is named after the Velirkula king of Kodumbalur named Madhurandhagan Orti who ruled this region.

Discovery of ancient pits

  • A 10 feet deep pit has been discovered at Kaveripalayam near Vathalai, Trichy district.
  • Ancient people used to store their grain and produce in this pit and protected it by covering the surface with straw or stone slabs.

Science and Technology

China successfully launches new remote sensing satellite

  • China sent a new remote sensing satellite into space from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center in the southwestern province of Sichuan.
  • The satellite, Yaogan-36, was launched by a Long March-2D carrier rocket at 3:12 am (Beijing Time) on 15th Oct and entered the planned orbit successfully.
  • This was the 444th flight mission of the Long March series carrier rockets.

World Shooting Championships (ISSF)

  • India’s Rudrankash Patil defeated Italy’s Danilo Dennis Solazzo to win the gold medal in the men’s 10m air rifle World Championship held in Cairo, Egypt.
  • This tournament has made him the second Indian after Abhinav Bindra to achieve this feat.

Women’s Asia Cup -2022

  • The 8th Women’s Asia Cup cricket tournament started on October 1.
  • India won the trophy for the 7th time against Sri Lanka in the Women’s Asia Cup cricket final in in Sylhet, Bangladesh.
  • Renuka Singh won the best Player of the Match. Deepti Sharma was awarded the best player of the series.

World Green City Award-2022

  • Association of International Horticultural Producers (AIPH) 2022 World Green City Awards held in Jeju, South Korea.
  • Hyderabad has won the ‘World Green City Award 2022’ and another award in the category of ‘Livelihood Green for Economic Recovery and Inclusive Growth’.
