Global Innovation Index Ranking 2022

  • India ranks 40th in the World Intellectual Property Organization’s Global Innovation Index.
  • The World Intellectual Property Organization yesterday released the Global Innovation Index 2022 in which Switzerland has emerged as the world’s most innovative economy for the 12th consecutive year
  • The second position was secured by the US followed by Sweden, the UK, and the Netherlands.

Four regions of Ukraine annexed to Russia !!!

  • Four military-backed separatist-controlled regions in Ukraine will formally join Russia on 30/09/2022.
  • Russia launched a war on the Eastern European country of Ukraine on February 25 and has been going on for seven months.
  • Russia planned to annex Ukraine’s four eastern and southern regions of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia to intensify the war.
  • The administrations of these regions are set to formally agree on the annexation of Ukraine’s regions to Russia at an event on 30/09/2022 in Moscow.

Thirukkural in Khmer language of Cambodia

  • The unveiling ceremony of Thiruvalluvar’s statue was held at the office complex of the Department of Arts and Culture at the Secretariat of the Southeast Asian country of Cambodia under the leadership of its director Sorup Mansak.
  • The World Thirukkural Conference is being held in Siem Reap, Cambodia till October 3.
  • On the first day of the event, the statue of Thiruvalluvar was inaugurated at the Secretariat in Siem Reap. It was organized by the Angkor Tamil Sangam.
  • Angkor Tamil Sangam president said that they will also install statues of Rajarajacholan and Suriyavarman.

PM Modi to launch commercial 5G services on 1st Oct

  • Prime Minister to launch 5G Services in India at 6th India Mobile Congress 2022
  • The IMC 2022 is scheduled to be held from 1st to 4th October with the theme of “New digital Universe”.
  • Ushering in a new technological era, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will launch 5G services on 1st October at 10 AM in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
    • Delhi’s IGI Airport becomes India’s first 5G equipped airport
    • The Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi has unveiled its 5G infrastructure, which travellers will be able to utilise whenever telecom service providers roll out the technology.

  • The Federation of Indian Publishers presents awards for excellence in book production.
  • The Federation of Indian Publishers (FIP) 42nd Annual Awards for Excellence in Book Production 2022 was held in New Delhi.
  • The Directorate of Publications Division won nine awards in various categories for its titles.

IndiGo launched its first cargo flight

  • IndiGo has announced that it has converted its first cargo plane from a passenger plane
  • The airline is already a market leader in operating 1600 daily flights to 74 domestic destinations. Additionally, as part of its international operations, it serves 26 locations in the overseas market.
  • The dedicated freighter fleet count in India is set to increase further as established airlines like IndiGo, SpiceJet, and Bluedart look to induct more aircraft for carrying freight.

Centre to make 6-airbag safety norm mandatory from October 2023

  • Minister Nitin Gadkari has announced that 6 airbags will be mandatory in all cars from October 1, 2023, considering the safety of passengers.
  • The government had planned to make six airbags mandatory in eight-seater vehicles from October 1, 2022 but now the Central government has decided to postpone it to October 1, 2023, the Union minister said.
  • The Road Transport and Highways Minister said the decision was taken keeping in mind the global supply chain constraints faced by the automotive sector in the country.

According to the Supreme Court decision, all married and unmarried women have the right to safe for legal abortion!!!

  • The Supreme Court ruled on 29/09/2022 that unmarried women have the same right for abortion as married women do under the Medical Abortion Act, 1971 (MTP).
  • The Supreme Court ruled that section 3(2) (b) of the Act, which provides for abortion, applies to unmarried women as well.
  • Single or unmarried women also have the right to an abortion up to 24 weeks under the Medical Fertility Act and Regulations.

PM Modi to inaugurated 3rd Vande Bharat train

  • Narendra Modi launched the country’s 3rd Vande Bharat Express train service
  • Ministry of Railways has announced to run newly upgraded Vande Bharat Express trains in the next three years.
  • As a part of it Vande Bharat Express train will be operated between Gandhinagar in Gujarat state and Mumbai Central.
  • The Vande Bharat Express is one of the success stories of the government’s significant efforts to strengthen the “Make in India” campaign.

New species of catfish in Mettur dam

  • ICSR-National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resources (ICAR-NBFGR) has discovered a new species of catfish called Pangasius from Mettur dam in Salem district.
  • The new species can be distinguished from its congener by its small rounded vomerine and palatine tooth plates,longer maxillary and mandibular barbels,more vertebrae,and smaller caudal peduncle depth.
  • This discovery is a new opportunity for future research on conservation of the species and evaluation of the new fish genetic resources for its characteristics and utilisation potential.

Dinamalar’s L. Aathimulam has been appointed to the Board of Directors of PTI !!!

  • Press Trust of India, India’s oldest news agency, was started in 1947 by various newspaper owners.
  • Aveek Sarkar has been appointed as the President in 2021. KN Santhakumar was elected for the 2nd term as PTI Vice President. He will be on the post for one year.
  • There are 16 members in the Board of Directors of PTI and currently Dinamalar magazine  Athimulam has been appointed as one of them.
  • Athimulam, who has been appointed as PTI Director, spent 37 years at the CEO of Dinamalar and introduced modern technologies in the printing department of the newspaper.

Muralithar to be appointed as Chief Justice of Madras High Court !!!

  • Muneeshwar Nath Bhandari retired as Chief Justice of Madras High Court on 12th. Subsequently, Duraisamy took office as the in-charge Chief Justice. He retired on 21st sep. Following this, D. Raja was sworn in as the Chief Justice.
  • Chief Justice U.U. Lalith, Justices TY Chandrachud and Sanjay Kishan Kaul,The collegium has recommended the appointment of Chief Justice of Odisha High Court S. Muraleedhar as Madras High Court
  • Muralithar will take over as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court once the President approves it.

Robot runs 100 metre in 24 seconds, makes world record

  • Cassie, a robot developed by Oregon University in the US, has set a Guinness World Record for running the 100-meter race in 24.73 seconds.
  • Designed as a robot that runs on two legs like a human. Like an athlete, it has successfully crossed the race distance and set a record.
  • Making the announcement, the Guinness World Record informed that while there are other world record titles for fast robots, this is based on the standard competitive human tasks.

In the Vembakotta excavation, male and female head figures made of of flint model were found!!!

  • Excavation work has been going on since last March in Vadakarai area of ​​Vijayakarisalkulam Panchayat on the banks of Vembakottai near Sattur in Virudhunagar district.
  • So far 16 pits have been excavated and many rare objects have been found and now a man, woman and bird head made of flint have been found.
  • Also the final phase excavation will be held on 30/09/2022 and second phase excavation will start in January or February 2023.

Iron sword was found at Kontagai excavation part!!!

  • The 8th phase of excavation work has been started from last February 11 at 4 places in Sivagangai District namely Keezadi, Kontakhai, Akaram and Manalur.
  • In this case, an iron sword with a length of 40 cm with black and red colored vases was found during the examination of the excavation pots found in the excavations at Kontakhai near Keezadi.
  • And archeologists are conducting research to know the use of this sword.
